The PTA is comprised of families, students, teachers, administrators, and business and community leaders devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of parent involvement in schools.

PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education.

Membership in PTA is open to anyone who wants to be involved and make a difference for the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

The San Mateo-Foster City Council is the largest council in 17th District PTA, which represents all PTAs in San Mateo County. We represent about 5,000 of the nearly 20,000 PTA members in San Mateo County, with active PTA units in all elementary and middle schools in the San Mateo-Foster City School District.

The PTA Council works with the school district (staff, administrators and teachers), Board of Trustees, and PTAs at all schools to support students and families of the San Mateo Foster City School District and to improve the education, health and welfare of all children and youth.

PTA Council officers are available for advice and help. Each school has a Council PTA officer liaison, but please feel free to contact us with your questions or concerns. Council collects dues from every unit to run our programs, which are outlined in each units' bylaws.
